Black Cats outcast Fabio Borini working as Milan’s intriguing wildcard 18.2 || webmaster
A summer of total transformation saw a wide array of big money moves to the San Siro but there was one that made the least sense, and continues to leave fans and neutrals alike scratching their heads in confusion. After much deliberation, it’s starting to look like Fabio Borini is the ideal alternative from Milan’s regular gameplan.
Italian football is raising the bar back to its former heights over recent seasons and it’s returning to form as a league that many voyeurs enjoy betting on. Oddschanger is a free recommended bets website that offers knowledge, tips and predictions over all areas of football, including all the Serie A action.
Through the introduction of some wealthy foreign owners, The Rossoneri spent big in the summer, bringing in Juventus centre-back Leonardo Bonucci, rising star Andre Silva, Atalanta right-back Andrea Conti, Bayer Leverkusen attacking midfielder Bayer Leverkusen, reliable left-back Ricardo Rodriguez, Villarreal defender Mateo Musacchio, Lazio defensive midfielder Lucas Biglia. and also sealed loan deals for Atalanta midfielder Franck Kessie and Fiorentina forward Nikola Kalinic.
As with any injection of finances, a number of those players have been instant hits at the Giuseppe Meazza, while a handful have failed to make the cut – something that’s been noted in past takeovers with Manchester City, Paris Saint Germain, Queens Park Rangers and Malaga.
The only utterly questionable incoming player was Fabio Borini, who’d notably flopped when joining Liverpool from Roma in 2012 and couldn’t net anywhere near enough goals to save Sunderland from a certain relegation to the Championship. They now remain in the English second tier and could even move to League One if things continue in the same path. Meanwhile, Borini’s living the high life in Italy, with it making less sense through Milan’s £175m spent, including two far more promising strikers.
Also a former Liverpool player, Suso is top scorer for Milan with seven goals and three assists between league and European efforts. Fabio Borini is far from that record, scoring two goals but providing six assists and being a far more worthwhile alternative than many originally predicted.
His most recent goal came in AC Milan’s opening Round of 32 fixture with Ludogorets Razgrad, where the Italian completed a comprehensive win over the Bulgarian side by netting a calculated strike in stoppage time. He now has two goals in two games and, although he’ll be far from gaining all too much credit, is certainly contributing when it matters and can make an impact when called upon.
