Ancelotti rejects AC Milan offer 2.6 || webmaster
The press is reporting former Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has given a final answer to AC Milan and rejected an eventual return to San Siro.
Ancelotti met several times this week with AC Milan CEO Adriano Galliani and club President Silvio Berlusconi. The latter stated that he was ‘optimistic’ on the transfer being completed.
Unfortunately for Berlusconi, the former Real Madrid boss went to Vancouver with his wife on holiday and said he’ll return with an answer tomorrow.
The club published a statement in which it confirmed that Ancelotti told the Rossoneri that it ‘cannot be our Coach next season’, so no chance for the fans to see him in any fixtures at San Siro stadium on the home bench.
Ancelotti mentioned in a press conference that happened last week that he’d take a year off if he was fired by Real Madrid.
‘Thanks to Milan for their interest and support. It was tough to say no to such a beloved club to me but I need to rest. I wish them the best,’ said Ancelotti on Twitter this evening.
Ancelotti is also hoping to have back surgery to address a very old health issue.
AC Milan must now look at other options for their bench, with names such as Sinisa Mihajlovic, who quit as Sampdoria manager a few days ago, and Fiorentina’s Vincenzo Montella as top options.
Another very interesting candidate for the bench is Sevilla’s Unai Emery, but going by the latest rumours it seems he’s closer to Napoli as the Andalucian club already confirmed a Napolitan bid for their coach.
One last option that president Silvio Berlusconi is considering is to promote current Primavera youth team coach Cristian Brocchi and to have ex Juventus manager Marcello Lippi as director of sport in order to provide guidance for the former.
An interesting summer awaits the Rossoneri faithful who would most certainly want the club to move fast on this issue and sign a quality manager for the job, one that can bring the club to it’s former glory, provided that club president Silvio Berlusconi is also willing to loosen his purse strings considerably.
